The GPAPD is a registered, Provincially based NGO which came into existence in January 2008. Responded to a need for an over-arching structure to co-ordinate the work of organisations, providing services to persons with physical disabilities. Currently 32 member organisations and 10 developing members (as at 1 March 2011) and rapidly growing. Direct and indirect Social Work services also rendered in areas where there are none.
Working closely with various Government and Community structures in Gauteng, the GPAPD is able to respond to the needs identified within a community to provide assistance to persons with primarily physical disabilities. GPAPD has a dedicated group of committed, professional personnel who strives to improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities and their families in the Gauteng Province.
The GPAPD is a proud member of the National Council for Persons with Physical Disabilities in South Africa (NCPPDSA), an organisation who have been committed to providing services and opportunities to people with physical disabilities for well over 70 years
